“RID is a place where I have met new friends and reconnected with people I hadn’t spoken with for years. I feel safe and accepted here, like I can talk about how I really feel about what’s going on in this country. The speakers who have visited have shared good, solid information."

As a couple that haven’t been overly involved in politics in the past, but feeling the need to do something now, we find RID United a welcoming and positive place to learn, engage and help.

RID United has afforded me the opportunity to express my displeasure, along with other like minded individuals, with the current administration’s erosion of our democracy. Our meetings allow for positive discourse and action to attempt to save our Constitution.

“I have been attending RID meetings since March of 2025. One of the main benefits of RID for me has been that I now know that I am not alone. That there are other people in my community that are having similar thoughts and feelings about politics as me. An additional benefit of RID has been that it has given me the confidence and courage to participate in several local protests. Making your voice heard in a very real way can be an incredible mental boost.”

"I really appreciate what you and all the others have done to organize RID where everyone can mingle and express our concerns in a civil way!! It’s therapeutic for me…..AND I believe for many other folks in these VERY uncertain times!!!!!"

"During Trump’s first administration, I struggled. I felt very alone and isolated in Preble County. This area being deeply MAGA, and living with that disconnect was difficult. So when he won again, I knew I needed to find a way to process it. I needed to find community that was local.

I saw a simple Facebook post shared by a friend, inviting people to meet at Blu Sky Cafe. It was written by someone I had never met and basically said: If you’re weary of this administration, come join us. I didn’t know a single person who would be there, and I had no idea what I was walking into—but I went. Since that day, I’ve found a community that has helped me navigate the challenges coming at us at rapid-fire speed from this administration. I’m deeply thankful that Bev made that post—and that I showed up. Eleven months later, I don’t just have a community. I have people I truly hold dear and now call friends."
